Culture in Rehabilitation:  From Competency to Proficiency provides a foundation for the understanding and appreciation of culture and its impact on rehabilitation. This resource encourages readers to consider how culture unavoidably plays a critical role in the practice and theory of rehabilitation. 

The book begins by exploring the concept of culture and rehabilitation from the perspectives of communication, ethics, and discrimination.  Then it introduces themes of ethnic diversity, exploring the experiences, values and beliefs of a wide range of groups.  The book concludes with a presentation of gender, age, disability, poverty and class and lifestyle and its impact on rehabilitation.
